Starring: Unison Voice, Stephan Gericke
Unison Voices is a project-based adult choir founded last year by their conductor, Stephan Gericke. The Choristers are from all walks of life with one thing in common - the love of making beautiful music.
In this virtual concert they will showcase performances for choir and small ensemble by inspiring contemporary choral composers: Trotta, Whitacre and Gjeilo.
The concert’s title, Breath of Ecstasy, is derived from Michael John Trotta’s setting of Sara Teasdale’s Love Songs. This work was commissioned to celebrate the centennial of Sara Teasdale winning the first Pulitzer Prize for poetry in 1918. The concert starts with this seven-movement work for choir, oboe and string quartet.
Programme:
1. For a breath of ecstasy – Michael John Trotta
2. Glow – Eric Whitacre
3. The seal lullaby – Eric Whitacre
4. Luminous night of the soul – Ola Gjeilo
