Starring: Merryl Neille, Eugene Joubert

Flautist Merryl Neille recently visited South Africa from Australia. Her April fundraiser concert supported a Ukraine charity aiding minority groups fleeing the warzones. She and pianist Eugene Joubert performed this unusual programme in the newly built Seabrook Hall at the University of the Witwatersrand.

The beautiful programme featured works by several living and female composers, including Rachel Laurin, Shalumit Ran, Ian Clarke, Makoto Shinohara, Eugenie Rocherolle and Miriam Hyde.

Formerly principal flute of the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra, Merryl currently works at Flutes and Flutists in Sydney. There she is responsible for many of the administrative duties of the flute repair workshop and assists with sales of Haynes, Burkart, Powell, Yamaha and other brands of student to professional level flutes. Merryl is an active member of the Australian flute community, serving on the committee of the Flute Society of New South Wales.
