Mozart Overture from The Magic Flute
Grove Concertino for Viola, Flute and Chamber Orchestra
Beethoven Symphony no 2 in D, Op. 36

One of Mozart's most beloved Overtures opens this concert. The overture to this fairy tale opera - The Magic Flute, sets the scene for the inventive story, but has an underlying musical profundity for the subtext hiding in the wings.

The Concertino for Viola, Flute and Chamber Orchestra by Stefans Grove is an interesting work featuring this unusual combination of solo instruments.
This is followed by Beethoven's 2nd symphony, most appropriate and welcome, after much of the Beethoven 250 festivities could not materialize in 2020.

The series is generously sponsored by the City of Cape Town.
