Conductor Jeremy Silver is on the podium with a tasteful compilation of music starting with Mendelssohn's evergreen Hebrides Overture. Haydns Symphony no 104 is the last of the 12 London Symphonies and also the very last symphony he wrote and is known as the London Symphony. This work forms the core of the programme. Another romantic work closes the programme namely the 1st Horn Concerto by Richard Strauss. The composer was only 18 years old when he wrote this attractive work, yet it remains the most frequently performed horn concerto in Europe to date.
